Documents Needed for Travel
United States passport holders must have a valid passport,
or other proof of citizenship, such as an original birth certificate
and official photo ID (driver's license is acceptable), plus marriage
certificate if your name has changed. A visa is not required for stays
of up to 180 days, if holding a Tourist Card/FMT form issued free of
charge by airlines.
Language
The official language is English, however a French-based
patois is widely spoken.

Beaches
St. Lucia has many different beaches, from the activity-filled
to the romantically secluded.
Climate
St. Lucia enjoys an average annual temperate of 85 degrees.
The rainy season is between June and November.
What to Wear
Casual clothing is the norm is St. Lucia. Overly casual
beachwear is rarely appropriate off the beach. Certain restaurant may
require a jacket for men, however this is normally the exception, not
the rule.
Currency and Credit Cards
The Eastern Caribbean dollar is the official currency,
however, the U.S. dollar is widely used. Most major credit cards are
accepted.
Electricity
The electrical current is 220 volts/50 cycles (Hz). Some
hotels have the US Standard 110 volts, and the majority of other hotels
have adapter switches for electric shavers and hair dryers.
Marriage Requirements
The following original documents are required to be produced
in person before the local registrar for couples wishing to be married
in St. Lucia:
- Birth Certificate
- Passport
- Proof of Absolute, if either of the parties are divorced.
- A Death Certificate for the former spouse, in the case of a widow/widower.
- A Deed Pool, if a name has been changed.
Residency
Application to be married in St. Lucia must be made by
a local solicitor to the Attorney General, who will issue a marriage
license after a three-day residency period. It takes two business days
to process the application.
