Documents Needed for Travel
U.S. citizens only need valid picture ID for the airlines,
however they do not have to pass through customs. Non-US citizens must
provide normal documents for entering the US.
Language
Both English and Spanish are spoken.
Time Zone
EST, except for late October to early April, where Puerto
Rico is one hour ahead of EST.
Beaches
Puerto Rico has many beaches to choose from, all offering
the same postcard-like tropical scenes.
Climate
Temperatures range from 75-85 degrees year-round, with
most rain falling between July and October.
What to Wear
Casual clothing is acceptable. Beachwear is not acceptable
off of the beach. Some restaurants and casinos expect jackets for men,
and like dress for women during the evening.
Currency and Credit Cards
The US dollar is the official currency of Puerto Rico.
Electricity
The 110 Volts, same as US.
Marriage Requirements
You’ll need:
1. A Valid form of identification with a photograph such as a driver’s
license or any state-issued identification or passport. Non U.S. citizens
will need their passports.
2. A Blood Test for Syphilis is required and can be done at any licensed
lab in your area, provided they give you the proper paperwork to bring
with you. You will need to bring the ORIGINAL LAB TEST RESULTS whereupon
there must appear one of the following codes such as “VDRL”, “RPR”,
“STS”, or “Syphilis Test”. The results must be NON-REACTIVE for each
of you. These test results must not be older than 14 days prior to your
Wedding Day.
3. A marriage license validation upon your arrival in Puerto Rico. First
is a visit to a registered Doctor for the signing of the medical certificate
(No physical is required). Then you will be escorted to the Demographic
Registry office to validate the license, presenting the medical certificate
and the $20 application fee. You will leave the Registry Office with
your marriage license in hand.
A residency requirement is not needed in Puerto Rico, so how many days
you stay in Puerto Rico prior to the ceremony is up to you, keep in
mind however, that we will need at least four hours in order to complete
these tasks, which can be done on non-holidays from Monday through Friday
from 8 am to 7 pm and Saturday and Sundays from 8 am to 12 noon.
If your flight arrives later then 10:30 am on the weekend, then you
would need to come in the day before in order to complete your errands
in time. Anyone under the age of 21 will need a sworn affidavit from
their legal guardian giving them permission to be married.
Officiants – are available to perform civil ceremonies. Catholic, Episcopalian,
Baptist, Jewish and interdenominational officiants are also available
upon request. Each religion will have its own set of requirements of
which we will advise. Prices will vary.
